May & June 2021
I was born in a small mountain village in Albania; my family immigrated to America in 1967. In the 1960s, Eastern Europe was not the land of opportunity, so my parents packed up two suitcases and their two boys and came to America. It was a bit of a struggle, but only struggles that I have been told about. My father worked two years without a day off to save enough money to buy his own small restaurant in Aurora, Il. As the chef and partner in the business, he built a loyal following of customers for 25 years. I grew up in the restaurant business but was always looking for a way out. I finally did, in 1998. I have two wonderful children Fetim and Emine. They both are in the medical field and have had to overcome very interesting professional hurdles in the last 14 months. I am married to my wife Sebeat for thirty-plus years. I was the suburban boy who drove 45 mins one way just to talk to her for 15 mins and eventually won the city girl's heart.
Fun Tidbits about John:
My first new car payment, including insurance, was $115 a month.
I received my MBA in the Spring of 2014. I had two finals and a successful go-live (Cranbury, NJ "with Sasha") for that last semester. My brain hurts just thinking about it. Very interesting side story: in one week, Sasha and I ran into people from our home countries in Cranbury, NJ. I wonder what were the odds of that happening?
I am a big Chicago Sports fan and my best fan moment was when I met and shook the hand of the Late Great Walter Payton.
I just started working out again. Hot Yoga, the best low-impact workout for someone with old sports injuries.

In the complex and fast world of warehousing, relatively small changes can have far-reaching effects. Small changes in the warehouse tracked in real-time can generate more revenue, increase customer satisfaction, and optimize labor productivity. The benefits of having warehouse visibility are growing, and the sooner companies have access to this technology, the better the results. On the Logistics Matters podcast with DC Velocity, Alex talks about the growing need for warehouse visibility and why most organizations expect too little from their service providers.
